1.Nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate): Cialis and nitrates both lower blood pressure. Taking them together can cause a significant and potentially life-threatening drop in blood pressure (hypotension), leading to dizziness, fainting, or even heart attack or stroke. It is contraindicated to use Cialis with nitrates or recreational "poppers" (amyl nitrites).
2.Alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin): Both Cialis and alpha-blockers relax blood vessels, which can lead to excessive blood pressure reduction when used together. This may result in dizziness, fainting, or orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing). If needed, your doctor may adjust the dosage or recommend spacing the medications.
3.Other antihypertensive drugs (e.g., atenolol, propranolol, enalapril, lisinopril): Cialis can enhance the blood-pressure-lowering effects of these medications. While this interaction is usually less severe than with nitrates or alpha-blockers, it can still cause dizziness or fainting in sensitive individuals. Close monitoring of blood pressure is recommended.
Cialis (tadalafil) can interact with certain foods and beverages, potentially altering its effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects. Here are the key drug-food interactions to be aware of:
Cialis (tadalafil) can cause dizziness or dizziness problems in sensitive individuals. If you experience dizziness or lightheadedness with Cialis, stop taking Cialis and consider reporting it to a doctor. If you have any questions or concerns about using Cialis, consult a doctor.
Cialis (tadalafil) can interact with certain foods and beverages, so it is crucial to avoid consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking Cialis. Avoiding alcohol while taking Cialis may delay its onset of action, making it more effective. If you have any questions or concerns about using Cialis, a doctor will help.
Cialis (tadalafil) can interact with other medications that you are taking. It is important to notify a doctor about any medications you are taking to avoid potential interactions. The more questions a person has about their medication, the reduced their risk of side effects.
Cialis has been shown to cause some mild side effects. Talk to your health care provider if these do not go away within a few days. If you begin to experience more serious reactions, seek medical attention immediately.
Common side effects reported from Cialis use include:
More severe side effects include:
If you experience any of these side effects, seek medical attention immediately. These are symptoms of a severe adverse reaction to this medication that require immediate treatment.
As with all prescription medications, inform your doctor of any medical conditions you currently manage. Tell them about any and all medications, prescription drugs, and supplements you are taking before starting treatment with Cialis. Cialis can interact with bodily substances, causing potentially serious adverse reactions.
Specifically, you should inform your health care provider of any alpha-blocker, antifungal, HIV protease inhibitor, or high blood pressure medication you are taking. Remember to mention any herbal products you use, especially St. John’s wort.
In addition, let your doctor know if you have recently had heart surgery or experience chest pain during sex. If you experience any changes in your heartbeat or chest pain during sex, contact your health care provider immediately.

Cialis pills can be dangerous if taken for longer than prescribed, according to new research in theJournal of the American Medical Association.
The researchers say they can find that taking Cialis can be harmful for some men with certain medical conditions.
Their paper,, was published today inJAMAin theThe study, which was led by Dr. Susan B. Anthony, a professor of urology at Wake Forest University, West Virginia, found that taking Cialis for longer than recommended reduced the likelihood of developing priapism, or a prolonged erection, in some men.
For example, if someone were to take a Cialis-containing pill for a long period, they might have an increased risk of developing priapism. But if they do not take it for a longer period, it could increase their risk of developing priapism. In a study of 9,527 men with erectile dysfunction, a group of 18,608 subjects taking Cialis had a 1.3 times greater chance of developing priapism than the group who did not take the pill.
Dr. Anthony, a professor of urology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and the chief of the urology unit at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, said the findings are “a landmark study that raises important questions about the role of tadalafil in erectile dysfunction.”
“This is one of the first studies to show that tadalafil is a safe drug for use in men with erectile dysfunction,” she said.
The study is “a landmark study that raises important questions about the role of tadalafil in erectile dysfunction,” Dr. Anthony said.
The researchers studied 5,766 men who took daily doses of tadalafil (the active ingredient in Cialis) for more than four hours. They analyzed how quickly they developed erections and compared those results to those of patients who did not take the drug. They found that men who took daily doses of tadalafil developed fewer and shorter erections compared with those who took a placebo.
Anthony says the findings “provide strong evidence that tadalafil can have side effects similar to those caused by the drug itself, including headache, dizziness, and flushing, and that side effects are more likely with daily dosing.”
She said the findings also highlight the importance of caution in using tadalafil, especially in cases of priapism.
The researchers noted that men with some degree of erectile dysfunction have a greater chance of developing priapism, while those with a low risk of developing the condition may have a lower chance.
In addition to the new research, they note that the study does not directly answer the question of whether taking tadalafil can cause priapism. But the findings may provide further insight into the link between tadalafil and certain medical conditions.
